Private Pilot's Licence
The question on most people's mind is "What do I get out of a PPL?" The answer is simple, unprecedented freedom of the skies and a privilege that most people never get to experience. Here at Flyteam Aviation we have a number of specialist people to help you gain that privilege.
The PPL course includes general handling, navigation, solo consolidation and written exams leading to the flying skills test. The training is generally undertaken in a Piper Warrior or Archer which are low wing four seaters but also excellent basic trainers that have the added benefit of passenger carrying ability. Training on the PA28 will save the added cost of a type conversion once you graduate with your PPL and you will be at ease in the aircraft when you first take your friends and family flying. From the outset you will be trained by our dedicated JAA approved Flight Instructors, who will teach you step by step the principles of flight, while the fleet is maintained to the highest standards by our selected EASA approved maintenance provider.
The course consists of:
- 45 hours flight training
- Written examination papers:
- Aviation Law
- Meteorology
- Navigation
- Technical
- Radio Telephony (written)
- Human Performance and Limitations
- Flight Performance
- Flight Test
IMC rating
It will not be long after you gain your PPL that you will want to spread your wings and fly to more exotic and challenging destinations.
The Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) rating will prepare you for the days when the weather is less than fine and teach you the more complex skills of Radio Navigation.
The IMC rating will require a minimum of 15 hours training, 29 hours ground school, one written exam and a flight test.
From the start of your training you will be introduced to our fleet of Piper aircraft. These are low wing, four-seater aircraft equipped with all the necessary navigational equipment to help you with flying under instrument conditions.
Upon completion of your training, you will have obtained the essential skills of flying in less favourable conditions. In addition to this you will also be proficient in flying another type of aircraft to that in which you completed your PPL.
Night rating
Once you have completed your PPL the natural progression for most pilots is to obtain a Night Rating.
The Night Rating consists of 5 hours of training including at least one hour of supervised solo flight.
Multi engine rating
Having gained a wealth of experience of flying "singles" a number of pilots choose to upgrade their licence and convert to flying twin engine aircraft.
This is a surprisingly short conversion, consisting of 6 hours flying instruction, a written test and a flight test.
All training will be conducted using our six-seater AZTEC (PA23-250) aircraft, which is fully equipped with the instruments and avionics suitable for all types and conditions of flying.
Revision Course
Most pilots would agree that since gaining their PPL the majority of their flying has been done for pleasure. Our revision course is therefore fundamental to maintaining hard-learned skills and competency.
With this in mind, Flyteam Aviation has designed a course which will bring you up to speed with vital procedures such as engine failure, recovering from a stall, the use of navigational aids and other general handling aspects.
Many of our members who have gone through the revision course have commented on the benefits it has had for their flying.
If you would like any more information regarding the revision course, please feel free to either e-mail or call us, we would be very happy to discuss it further with you.
